Bottled gas from the well known distributors is expensive, and there is limited flexibility in terms of the ability to change between bottle sizes. When taking your van abroad it is often difficult to source local gas bottles and the adaptors and regulators needed to connect to your van.

We offer a solution that allows you fill up with low cost gas, just like you would from a diesel pump, wherever in Europe you might be. One simple long-life refillable bottle, which is yours to keep.

You can also opt for the “best of both worlds”. We can install a single refillable cylinder with an existing exchange (Calor) cylinder.

LPG systems should only be installed or modified by a competent gas engineer. TourerCare is registered Gas Safe for LPG products, and has all of the expertise and specialist equipment needed.

The bottles are available in one of two forms:

Refillable bottles and filling point mounted in side of vehicle

This option usually comprises of one or two bottles installed in the gas locker, connected permanently to a filling point in the side of the vehicle.

Bottles are available in 6kg and 11kg sizes. We can also supply a 2.7kg bottle for those really small spaces.

Often the installations come with an automatic changeover valve. If one bottle becomes empty late at night, the valve simply selects the other bottle. No fiddling around in the dark!

The direct fill cylinders are filled using a bayonet connection on top of the bottle. The bottles are designed and manufactured to allow this to take place safely.

These cylinders are installed in the locker in the same way as any other “rented” type, and connected to the regulator. When they are empty, remove them from the locker and refill at the Autogas pump.

Things to look out for….

Check that your proposed installer is using components that are suited to the application. We see numerous installations that have the wrong type of fittings and hoses, sometimes not suited to the high pressures.

Does your proposed installer put the filling point in a secure location outside of the gas locker? Often installers will “cut corners” and put the filler inside the locker, or worse in the locker door. Neither situation complies with current guidance and best practice.

Is your proposed installer a competent engineer that has a relevant gas qualification and the equipment to test that the system is not leaking when the install is complete?
